What if there are parties who had shares not eligible for the dividend, who had an agreement not to sell below $2.50 but chose to do so anyway. Maybe they didn't get paid what they were due on time and decided something now is better than what may come who knows when. Even if it might come with a potential breach of contract fight.

Do you remember the disagreement between Joe and CFO or whoever on the CC about there being a mechanism for shares to be sold?
