I *think* what he meant was once the company is cash flow positive, more of a hedge fund, investor type of person would be more appropriate for this role in this Corp.

He knows it. Why? He is a smart person.
He will enjoy his share, aka his cash cow. And take a role on his next bio start up. Now, he's got a perfect resume.

I doubt, he had intention to sell the corp, or he wouldn't sign a 12 years agreement.
