Michael Rafael has over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, serving as founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of MDM Energy, Inc. Mr. Rafael is also founder and President of the newly formed MDM Permian, LLC.
Mr. Rafael has been directly involved in the drilling, completion, and operation of over 350 oil and gas wells, primarily in the Illinois Basin and the Ft. Worth Basin, and directly supervises and oversees all field operations. Mr. Rafael works directly with contract geologists, petroleum engineers, and geophysicists throughout all phases of operations. These include the generation of prospects, the acquisition of leases, and the gathering of scientific data as well as the planning and drilling of the prospects through completion and production. MDM Energy, Inc. provides pumping and maintenance services as well as water hauling and lease management in The Illinois Basin.
Mr. Rafael is a past President of the Kentucky Independent Petroleum Producers Association (KIPPA) which subsequently merged its membership with the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association (KOGA). Mr. Rafael and MDM are members of the Indiana Oil and Gas Association (INOGA), the Illinois Oil and Gas Association (IOGA), and the Independent Producers Association of America (IPAA). In 2009 Mr. Rafael and MDM Energy, Inc. were nominated for the ‘Wildcatter of the Year’ award by the Illinois Oil and Gas Association.
