The Story of Fat Ass Fudge
Five years ago my life took a new, unexpected direction. I gave myself a first big birthday party for my 60 th and invited all by brothers and sisters...all seven of them! Doug, Dana, Debbie, Dennis, Darrell, Danny and Mary.
To make the occasion extra special, I made my fudge that I have been making for my self for years. It was my English grandmother's recipe, but I kicked it up about 100 notches! I changed the generic ingredients called for in the recipe to the best of the best: 72% pure dark Belgian chocolate, organic goat's milk, and goats milk butter.
When my most successful brother said, "You should sell this fudge!" and asked, "What would you call the company?" I sassed, "I would call it what you called me growing up, Fat Ass!" We all laughed.
I could not get that name out of my head, Fat Ass Fudge. I knew it would be a hit.
My Fat Ass Fudge open doors for me that could not open before. Look, I got on Shark Tank ABC # 1 TV Show and sold my fudge to Whole Foods in East Hampton NY.
In my 20s, I was trying to make it in show business, (I had a small part in Midnight Cowboy in 1968; it was left on the cutting room floor.) Every time I didn't get a part I would be disappointed and go home and make fudge. It takes two hours to make a batch. I would stir the pot and talk to it and think nice sweet happy thoughts, taking my mind off my rejection. Well, I got disappointed a lot so I got real good at making fudge!
I like to say, "I turned an insult into an empire." Well, I'm on my way to that empire.
I love to make people smile and the name, Fat Ass Fudge, always makes people happy. The taste of my fudge is amazingly creamy with exquisite gourmet flavors. I make it special because I believe we all deserve the best when we indulge in something a little bit decadent and sensual.
