Maraviroc bonds differently to CCR5. It is deep buried and blocks everything from binding to CCR5. Leronlimab selectively binds at the exact point where HIV (and apparently other disease) need to attach. Here is a link to the video on the CytoDyn website that explains this better than me.

How it binds is important for several reasons. It allows other drugs to still work. Whether this be antibiotics to fight the flu, chemo to fight cancer, etc. This is why leronlimab has multiple effect or ‘shots on goal’ in cancer.....it makes chemo more potent/effective so that hopefully the dose can be lowered and reduce the side effects and improve quality of life. Promotes the bodies own immune response system to fight cancer and diseases....while at the same time stopping the disease (cancer, HIV, etc. from spreading). Dr. Lazari recently noted another benefit in cancer (so 4 potential significant positive impacts)! I’m sure others will chime in and explain this in more detail.
