I agree with Drano-if one doesn't want to read the posts about daily short positions then just skip over it.
My personal opinion is that the daily short numbers are not meaningful. I believe that they arise from intra-day trading that is usually covered later that day or the next day. I don't view them as particularly relevant. I am not a business person or investment professional but this is what I have been told by a couple of people who do work in investment counseling. Still, those are just opinions and could be entirely incorrect.
I do believe that manipulation is ongoing. Attacks on small companies such as IPIX can (and have been) relentless and I wouldn't trust any of the MM's as far as I could throw them. I just don't believe that the intra-day short numbers are a reliable indicator of such.
