Companies like NBY can't charge the kind of exorbitant prices for over-the-counter minor-annoyance dry-eye eyewashes as they can for prescription drugs, because people have to pay out of their own pockets for over-the-counter drugs.
There will be lots of competition for anti-bacterial eyewashes, too.
How much competition will there be for a novel compound that can heal the lesions of ulcerative proctitis and possibly (when the pill formulation is finished) of other types of ulcerative intestinal diseases? Do you think that it's going to be priced the same as over-the-counter eyewash, when it will be by prescription and people's insurance will pay for it?
Is Brilacidin oral rinse for oral mucositis going to be any more expensive than a bottle of eyewash? What's more serious, dry eyes, or oral mucositis that puts people into the hospital?
What about a treatment for some kinds of cancer? Will that cost someone more than walking into Walgreen's for a bottle of eyewash?
