SAN DIEGO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro PedWest facility Wednesday apprehended a man wanted for a homicide in Pomona.
“CBP officers at ports of entry along the California border with Mexico apprehended more than 1,900 fugitives in fiscal year 2018,” said Pete Flores, director of field operations for CBP in San Diego. “Officer diligence and partnerships with local and international law enforcement agencies help us to secure our nation.”
On Feb. 20, at about 11 a.m., Mexican officials escorted a 35-year-old male U.S. citizen, Rigoberto Perez, to CBP officers at the PedWest facility. CBP officers ran his information against law enforcement databases and were alerted that he was wanted. Officers escorted him to a secure location for further processing.
Further investigation confirmed he was wanted by the Pomona Police Department on a felony arrest warrant for murder with bail set at $3 million, and a no bail warrant for a conditional release violation.
Perez was transferred to the custody of detectives with the Pomona Police Department and booked into the Pomona County Jail.
