McCabe: Rosenstein Was Absolutely Not Joking About
Post# of 65629
CBS is set to air a full-length interview with fired and disgraced former Acting Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe this Sunday, and if the preview is anything to go by, it promises to be extremely enlightening.
McCabe, who was fired a day short of retirement when the internal DOJ watchdog accused him of leaking information to the media and lying about it to investigators, told 60 Minutes’ Scott Pelley that it was his decision to initiate an obstruction of justice investigation into President Donald Trump.
“I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion,” McCabe said. “That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace.”
McCabe said his decision to launch the investigation was made in the days after Trump fired his former boss, James Comey.
“I wanted to make sure that our case was on solid ground and if somebody came in behind me and closed it and tried to walk away from it, they would not be able to do that without creating a record of why they made that decision,” McCabe said.
Pelley appeared on CBS to discuss the interview on Thursday morning, telling the hosts of “The Morning” that McCabe had provided “surprising” details of what transpired inside the Department of Justice in the days after Comey was sent packing.
“There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” Pelley said.
“These were the eight days from Comey’s firing to the point that Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel. And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what do with the president.”
Pelley said that McCabe discussed reports that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had offered to wear a wire in communications with the president. Previously, Rosenstein and other DOJ officials have dismissed this as a “joke” the Deputy AG had told in a single meeting and was never meant to be taken seriously.
“McCabe in interview says no, it came up more than once and it was so serious that he took it to the lawyers at the FBI to discuss it,” Pelley said.
We suppose there is no revelation that will ever cause Democrats or liberal Trump-haters to change their minds about the narrative here, but it defies belief that anyone could look at this situation and not see that Trump is the victim of a deep state witch hunt.
Trump exercises his constitutional authority to fire the FBI director and suddenly the DOJ is talking about spying on him with a recording device? Having him thrown out of office on the basis of the 25th Amendment?
Who ARE these people? How DARE they admit these things without any sense of regret or shame?
If this fiasco concludes with any result other than Rosenstein, Comey, McCabe, and others behind bars, our country may never fully heal from this miscarriage of justice.
