Disagree "much rather hear that he doesn't know". Since he has stated "Major, major deals" (note plural) and given us a no later than timeframe (end of Oct.) he must have had complete confidence in the vendor info or contract provided him. I find it hard to believe absolutely none of those deals will come through by the end of the month. All we need is for one of them to be PRed by the morning of 11/1 and the pps is off to the races.
