There are competitive apps around, but the bottom line to nearly every one of those apps is that they somehow MUST figure out whether the user is driving or not. That's the challenge. You can use GPS, motion detection, or communication with the vehicle. The most reliable and the one that allows for lots of scalability with additional apps and services is a direct communication with the vehicle. That's where the beacon comes in, and that's where Aegis 34 patents/patents pending come in (now owned 100% by ONCI).
The beacon runs 'context engine' and communicates vehicle/engine state information to any paired electronic device (android and iphone). Apps are written for various platforms that function with this communication.
bFound, bSafeMobile and Fleetsafer can all communicate with the vehicle via this same beacon.
With bSafeMobile, as the vehicle goes into motion, the beacon will relay the vehicle state to the app and the app will push a safety curtain screen to the device, which blocks usage.
Unlike many of the other app only products, there are only two distinct methods to override - PASSENGER and EMERGENCY NUMBER
These overrides will still notify the administrator of the event...along with time stamp and gps map location. The admin portal reporting (tattletale) feature is a big part of what makes these products stand out...IMO
