Active Victim Receives 2018 Entrepreneur Award from the Financial Policy Council

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Dreamworks Media Company that its president, Nimish Mistry, has received the 2018 entrepreneur award for its brand, Active Victim, for path-breaking service to the nation from the New York City-based nonprofit, the Financial Policy Council. Mistry also is chairman of the Mistry Family Office.

According to a statement by the Financial Policy Council, Active Victim demonstrates “outstanding service to the nation by saving valuable American lives.”

Active Victim has pioneered the field of reality based Israeli self-defense and hands-on active shooter training, with weapons disarms. It provides organizations across every sector with active shooter defense, safety and response strategies to safeguard employees and facilities in the event of an active shooter scenario at their facility.

Active shootings are on the rise in the US, particularly in workplaces. According to OSHA’s General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (applicable to all business in the United States), employers must provide their employees with a workplace that is “free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious harm.” Courts have interpreted this provision as a legal obligation for all businesses, leading to significant legal action and awards for damages against businesses from victims of workplace violence. The costs associated with these actions run into the millions of dollars.

The cost of Active Victim’s “Active Shooter Defense Training” is fractional when compared to the potential damages caused by lawsuits following shooting incidents within the halls of a private or public entity. Participation in Active Victim’s program also ensures OSHA compliance for the organization.

Through its three-pillared training program, Active Victim partners with businesses and organizations, such as nonprofits, financial institutions and educational entities to educate and empower participants to protect themselves and to defend against mass shooting scenarios. Using real-life case studies, classroom sessions, videos and advanced individual one-on-one combat training, Active Victim teaches why, where and, most importantly, how to stay safe during these invasions.

Nimish Mistry, president of the Dreamworks Media Company, says: “The knowledge gained through our training programs increases awareness and helps individuals respond to and even survive active shootings. Through our training and instruction, organizational leaders gain the understanding needed to create an actionable plan designed to protect employees in the event such an attack occurs at their facility. We explain what happens before an active shooter fires the first shot and create a proactive strategy for the organization to implement as needed, which is designed to decrease the risk of injury or death of those attacked.”

The Active Victim program shows individuals what to do right after the first shot is fired. Active Victim instructors also explain situational awareness techniques, including the ability to identify, process and comprehend what is happening during an emergency situation, as well as helping clients set up a response center and a safe room. They also help organizations establish a coding system to communicate with employees during active shooter events.

As part of its third pillar—Defense—the Active Victim program shows people how to fight back when all else fails. Active Victim’s certified expert trainers (ex-servicemen) instruct employees on the principles of self-defense, armed combat (as needed) and emergency first aid including life-saving emergency treatment of bullet wounds. Additional training options include advanced use of firearms and advanced self-defense.

“It is vital for businesses to safeguard against such incidents, both physical and financial,” says Mistry. “Our team of experienced instructors helps empower Americans to protect themselves and save their own and other’s lives, while also helping organizations meet the letter of the law.

“We could not be more honored by the recognition from the Financial Policy Council for our work with organizations across the United States to protect their most valuable resource: their employee’s lives,” he adds.

Active Victim also donates a portion of its total revenues to causes that support the families of victims of mass shootings and killings.

About Active Victim Since 2016, Active Victim, a division of the Dreamworks Media Company, has provided organizations across every sector with active shooter defense, safety and response training to mitigate against mass public shooting scenarios and saving valuable American lives. Through its three-pillared training program, Active Victim partners with businesses and organization, corporations, nonprofits, financial institutions, educational entities and municipalities to educate and empower participants to protect themselves, and to defend against mass shootings through the use of real-life case studies, classroom sessions, videos and individual training. Active Victim helps individuals better understand why, where and how to stay safe during these invasions. A portion of all training profits is donated to assist victims and the families of victims of active shooter incidents in the United States. http://activevictim.com/
