Exactly. Your link also shows oil being turned into fuel, being distilled, etc....
It would be far fetched to assume that the rest of the world simply missed pyrolysis as an option for processing HTF. In fact motor oil already burns in a furnace with very high efficiency as fuel without any processing whatsoever.
