"In honor of the retired NASA CSSO, whose valuable contributions to this MB are deeply appreciated"
Thank You Major. And your Military Service, Contributions to the Board and SFOR are above reproach.
Wow 4sleddogs, Looking at it written that way "NASA CSSO" it sounds so Official.
Truth in fact is, I was a CSSO for the 45th Space Wing at Cape Canaveral AFS in The Range Operations Control Center (The ROCC).
1996 - 2013. Real Time Computers / Range Safety. Without digging, I saw a Picture of one of my CSSO Certificates I recieved. Pictured below. When putting together the last SFOR Video, so it's handy to Post, as someone might think all this is BS.
Alhough I did Interface with NASA and Maintained some NASA Equip. In truth, I managed NO NASA Computers.
Although at the ROCC I was CSSO for 98 DEC/VAX Main Frames / Network Equip. 2 Big Blue (IBM) and 115 PC's, this on top of my Normal Duties, Maintaining that Equip. and much more on a day to day basis. My Duties changed when we have a Post Launch Simulation & Launch the following day. From one of Maintenance to Operations. (See Video)
The USAF would like you to think they Launch Rockets, but It's the Civilian DoD Contractors that make the Magic Happen by having all Equipment Operational & Ready.
This Video was made in 1996 right after The ROCC was Completed and became Prime for all Launches Navy, USAF & NASA. Each may have their own Control Centers, but no one Launches without the approval of The ROCC and the 45th Space Wing Commanders Go for Launch. After all he is responsible for Range Safety and the Lives of the Local Population as well as those Down or Up Range. The vehicle can be Blown up to Africa East and Newfoundland North. Milatary Satellites are launched North and Skirt the East Coast. You want to be able to Blow Up the Vehicle should it begin to head off course, say towards NYC.
I hope that explanation of The ROCC, was understandable.

Just as a side note : In the last Year, SpaceX has launched twice as many Rockets as any Government or Space Agency in the World, from both The Cape and Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Elon Musk and SpaceX are Drastically Cutting Launch Costs for Customers Worldwide.
Buy the SpaceX IPO when it happens ! imo
