A mother whose son was murdered by an illegal immigrant appeared on "Fox & Friends" to react to a report that the NYPD got 1,526 requests from federal officials to detain undocumented immigrants during President Trump’s first year in office - and they rejected them all.
"You swore to uphold the Constitution and to uphold law when you took an oath," Laura Wilkerson said, slamming New York City's sanctuary policy and arguing that state and local officials must cooperate with federal immigration laws.
"It's ridiculous. It's not right," Wilkerson said.
In 2010, Wilkerson's son Josh was beaten with a rod, fatally strangled and set on fire by a so-called DREAMer, an undocumented immigrant who was brought to the U.S. as a minor.
She said many people don't consider the cost of sanctuary policies until they or their loved ones are the victims of illegal immigrant crime.
"Why do you need to offer people sanctuary from the law?" she said. "Nobody gets sanctuary from the law ... I don't care what color you are or where you're from."
