Could CATL possibly be one of our OEM battery manu
Post# of 4081
Ok lets first start off with the description of JBZY which can be found on many brokerage pages, this one is from Merril Edge
Notice that the battery being produced and what they have patents on is a nickel-manganese, multi-phase, lithium-ion battery for EVs that are known as ternary lithium ion batteries which is referenced in the first link below. The density in the description above is listed at 180w/kg but has also been seen as just under 250w/kg as can be read in this article that talks about our test with the Chery Kay Wing V3 and has our CTO Han Jian Fang talking about EV tech v3.0 (Han Jiang Fang is shown in the photo below from the website link)

Back in December on the ZJMY wechat post that originally featured the Teslas and Nio there is another blue vehicle above them on the page which was identified as the Daimler Denza 400. Here's the wechat link and image of the Denza 400 from the wechat:
http://u5786391.zuodanye.maka.im/pcviewer/9RLYU0RV
This is the Daimler Denza 400 which is manufactured as a group venture from Daimler and BYD. Here is an article on the Daimler Denza 400 on being put into production. Here's the link
https://insideevs.com/denza-ev-enters-production/
Now go through the article and look at the pictures in the article. One of them is a picture of the battery that is used in the vehicle. Here is the pic from the article
Remeber what this battery looks like, I'll be coming back to it later.
So as we now know there is a link with Changan and the CS15EV with the V9 and V390. So on the Changan website there is a picture and description of the battery used in the CS15EV, do the specs sound familiar? Also note the operating temperature of the battery. Here is the image from and link to their website
http://www.changan.com.cn/car/cs15ev
That battery looks nearly identical to the battery in the Daimler Denza 400 doesn't it even though one has a transparent top on it for visual effect of what's inside it. Safe to say that it's the same exact battery though otherwise.
In this article on the CS15EV it shows the same picture of the battery that is on the Changan website.

Read the text above the battery pic at the bottom. It says the following
Notice that the text says "The new car and BMW use the same cell (Brilliance BMW cell supplier for the Ningde era)." So I did a search for the original chinese text in parenthesis on the article above where it mentions Brilliance BMW, it translates as "华晨宝马电芯供应商为宁德时代" and when searched it brings up this article in the results
http://companies.caixin.com/2017-10-25/101160940.html
Inside that article it states "In the past BMW Brilliance has been working with Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Ningde era ), which is responsible for the supply of power batteries. Up to now, the two sides have already completed the cooperation of five electric models. Now BMW Brilliance self-built power center, the two sides will adjust the scope of cooperation, Ningde era will gradually change to Brilliance BMW batteries suppliers"
So I took the name of the company listed in that article "Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd." and used google to translate it to "宁德时代新能源科技有限公司" and did a search on qichacha for the company listing. Here's the search:
Insert-tag-herewww.qichacha.com/search?key=%E5%AE%81%E5%BE%B7%E6%97%B6%E4%BB%A3%E6%96%B0%E8%83%BD%E6%BA%90%E7%A7%91%E6%8A%80%E6%9C%89%E9%99%90%E5%85%AC%E5%8F%B8 .
It brings up 5 listings, the first one is a match but look at the logos by the name, it's CATL. Click on that first search result and look at what the company website is, it's www.catlbattery.com.
A link that was just recently found for the research and development for CATL battery shows the specs of the new batteries they are producing. Here is the link and a pic of the specs
http://www.catlbattery.com/en/web/index.php/r...ctice?id=1
Notice the specs on the battery they produce, pretty close to the same w/kg spec as what is produced by ZJMY under patents and same operating temperature specs (-30 to 60 degrees C) as the CS15EV. Also notice that it says CATL uses NCM as a core material to significantly enhance the energy density of products up to 240w/kg. Know what NCM stands for? It's nickel cobalt manganese. This is one of the variations of lithium ternary batteries as shown in this article here
http://www.powerlongbattery.com/news/why-the-...68938.html
"According to different materials, the current market, the existing test battery is divided into lithium iron phosphate batteries, ternary lithium batteries (including NCA and NCM), lithium manganese oxide, lithium cobalt oxide, nickel hydrogen batteries, lithium titanate . Among them, iron phosphate lithium battery is the mainstream of the battery type in China's electric car market, but in recent years the market growth was significantly inferior to the ternary lithium battery. "
As stated above in the company description of JBZY, their batteries are made with nickel and manganese and we know that they are ternary lithium ion batteries. Could these CATL batteries be the same battery that ZJMY uses or at least uses the same patent technology to make their batteries?
Look who made a financial investment into CATL in early 2017, none other than Foxconn. You all know who Foxconn is right? They recently signed a deal with Jinbo to produce the A9 Cell phones.
https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3129250
Now for one final point as to why it's possible that CATL is a making our batteries is they recentlly announced an IPO in November of 2017 to try to raise another $2 billion USD in order to expand their battery production facilities in order to keep up with the surge of need of new energy batteries. Think about this, there is no way that they do this unless they are using the latest and greatest technology that is available. None of the manufactures want to use outdated and lower range batteries in their cars they're producing. And who has that technolgy, ZJMY does!! Wouldn't make sense to go through all the trouble to raise money to increase production to make batteries with old technology. CATL article on the IPO is below
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-catl...SKBN1DE0I4
Follow the flow of logic below
- So then to sum this up, going off the basis that we own the V9 and V390 through a partnership with Long Star,
- and knowing the CS15EV being basically the same vehicle as the V9 and V390 with similar specs based on the 390 in the name being the range of 390km (which is typical with EV car names in China),
- and the article I referenced above about Brilliance BMW using the same cell (battery) as the CS15EV as in the Daimler Denza 400,
- then the link in the article above to Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co, Ltd making the batteries for BMW Brilliance,
- and then Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd as being listed in qichacha with being CATL with the website of www.catlbattery.com,
- and now knowing that Foxconn, who is involved with our cell phones, is invested in CATL along with the fact that CATL will soon have an IPO to increase battery production,
- would it be possible to assume that CATL is a partner of ours or at the very least making the batteries for us and others with our patented technology?
What do you think?
