we sent men to the moon w 1960's technology! and only a 6 yr program!!
so ,why, especially since the water is right here on earth and abundant and wars will increasingly be fought over water- hasnt somebody or isnt somebody working on tomorrows technology to solve this massive problem- in the thousands of articles that come my way i've never seen anything re this
i suspect israels problem was security /terrorism threats against any such canal to bring water to the desert-we've got the incredibly underused power of the sun(china is taking advantage of that as the article notes) to help power such conversions
we can guess what the price of water will be in the future-we know the trend- i'm just surprised i've never heard -out of all the 10's or 100's of thousands of articles i've read-of anybody working e.g. on a technological solution to cheaply transform ocean water to fresh water-
it usually but not always takes money to do these things -but men have paid untold money to solve other problems-just doesnt seem that anybody has the vision to work on the water problem-specifically economical seawater conversion, especially given the rising future cost of water, especially due to the water shortages which will come due to our short term blindness re the way we've wastefully used water -
perhaps because they dont think they can monetize the solution or the money men are focused on other shortsighted things
the cause can be debated but the warming/drying seems real to any out door person as we/ve seen ponds and streams dry over the decades- a secular humanist geologist friend suggested tiny earthquakes may be partly responsible for some of this as earthquake activity has dramactically increased over the decades
