The entire energy ecosystem has shifted since the National Institute of Standards and Technology last updated its Framework and Roadmap for Smart Grid Interoperability Standards in September 2014. On Aug. 17 and 18, a meeting of the NIST Smart Grid Advisory Committee discussed updating the framework to meet the needs of today’s producers and consumers.

....I still think of that comment wrt FF; "lighter than aluminum but stronger than steel", (if I rem right)
Could you imagine using that multifunction smartskinz addressing hwy infrastructure as a backbone for other applications and including an opportunity for those in the field to buy-in; yet also allow room for independents to meet their needs.
The framework would be all about the contracts and pricing in order to create a balance for the economy and corporate structure to continue w/o causing a massive collaspe of some.
.....a delicate but comprehensive framework to address global needs
The cool thing is I heard we had no idea how large the mkt for QDs will be
........that just leaves room to imagine a little more.
Go ahead: Think outside the box
