Your usual secular humanist claim turns the bill of rights up side down -"congress shall make no law respecting religion" meant that the govt was to stay out of religion-it didnt say anything about religion staying out of govt.
Having escaped religious persecution in europe baptists were afraid methodists might gain control of govt and vica versa -read the legislative history and the general unrevised history- so they didnt want a state backed/enforced religion like in europe where if you werent part of the lutheran church in germany or the catholic church in catholic countries you were persecuted-something that still occurs in catholic and islamic countries.
George Washington and probably almost all the presidents thru eisenhower openly spoke in their speeches about God being necessary to good govt and without God our american experiment would degrade into despotism like so many other govts throughout history
And the reason why the discoveries of the last few decades are often not taught in college or society yet is bc both colleges /education and the press are controlled by the adversary-so you often have to read alternative news sources.
AND the outlaw degree of specialization prevents even scientists in one discipline form learning what scientists in other disciplines have discovered so its hard for them to get the full picture and to see how the discoveries in their narrow specialty fit into the big picture.
and i guess you missed the religious battles of the last decades as well as the flag salutes one nation under God and our money's logo "In God we trust" just to mention a couple obvious examples.
