I've yet to read anything about 'atheist astronomers' crying. That's your pejorative that finds nothing to support it in the real world of science, as it is practiced.
The only rebelliousness I see is that of people unwilling to be subjected to moral scolds who look forward to other people being relegated to eternal damnation. Believe that if you choose, but there is no science that supports the 'concept'.

As I said atheist astronomers are actually crying that this expansion will make it impossible to see the farthest reaches of the universe in many millions of years. (We were only able to see the farthest reaches beginning ca 1994 w the Keck and other modern telescopes).
Instead they should be crying that they are so rebellious that no amount of evidence is able to overcome their rebellion and that thus a just creator of the big bang will relegate them to a place they will not want to be for eternity- which makes millions of years a mere trifle/sniffle.
