$LWLG Website has varied updates:

Our Technology Foundation

Lightwave Logic’s technology is based on its breakthrough Perkinamine™ family of electro-optic chromophores.

These materials are thermally stable and robust, are electro-optically active and have excellent high-frequency properties.

Our family of organic polymer systems has demonstrated the ability to withstand processing temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius and are CMOS and photo-chemically stable.

Because our polymers are initially in liquid form, they can be deposited into many different optical structures and platforms such as silicon photonics .

Using microfabrication technology to form waveguide structures, a large variety of polymer photonic devices and integrated circuits can be formed, including modulator arrays for encoding data at rates of 100’s of Gigabits per second (Gbps) that can potentially enable 400Gbps data rates and beyond.

Organic Electro-Optic (EO) Polymer Technology Platform

Lightwave Logic’s material development technology goes beyond the chemical synthesis of organic chromophores (dyes) used to create of electro-optical and all-optical polymer materials.

Our technology platform is more accurately viewed as a material system that also includes spacer systems, host polymers, poling protocols, and cladding materials.

These custom and specifically designed material systems are primarily intended for use in our proprietary photonic device platform designs.

Proprietary Spacer Systems:

Because of a tendency of one end of an organic chromophore to attract to the other end (dimerization) an important part of our intellectual property is the development of complex spacer systems to prevent the degrading effect of this process.

This patented process allows the alignment of the molecular structure, which facilitates the electro-optic activity.

Thermal Stability of the polymer material:

One of the key competitive advantages of our polymer solution is the ability to withstand standard CMOS processing temperatures and retain strong electro-optical activity.

This gives our polymers the ability to integrate with standard semiconductor manufacturing processes.

After process stability, it is equally important that our organic polymers withstand often-harsh operating temperatures that can be as high as 85 degrees Celsius.

Test results indicate that our polymer materials maintain their electro-optic properties even after 2000 hours at 110 degrees Celsius, well beyond the temperatures of an operating communications network.

Photochemical Stability of the polymer material:

Our organic polymers have demonstrated excellent stability to resist photochemical bleaching that has been typical of organic polymers. To date, our polymer materials have demonstrated stable electro-optic characteristics after 4000 hours of photochemical stability testing

Polymer Device Platform

Lightwave Logic is developing in-house proprietary, EO-polymer photonic devices, integrated circuits and sub-systems with broad application in telecommunications, data communications, and data centers.

Ridge Waveguide Modulator: Lightwave Logic has announced the successful demonstration of its first two alpha-prototypes, ridge waveguide modulators that have adequate bandwidth for transmitting data rates of greater than 10 and 25 Gbps respectively.

The 25 Gbps device could be used in various 4 x 25 configurations to transmit 100 Gbps, a data rate of high interest for telecom and datacom markets. These miniaturized devices are more compact than the traditional lithium niobate modulators.

Next Generation Ultra-High Speed Modulators:

Building on its 25 Gbps-capable modulator, our technology team is developing advanced devices that will operate at 50 Gbps and multi-modulator Polymer PIC structures that will enable transmitters to operate at 100, 200 and 400 Gbps (e.g., (100Gbps composed of 4 x 25Gbps devices, 200Gbps composed of 4 devices of 50Gbps, and 400Gbps composed of 8 devices of 50Gbps).

The company’s P2IC™ platform with its potential for very low drive-voltage levels and ultra-miniaturization, is at the foundation of these advanced devices.

CAREERS

We are a fast-growing publically listed high technology company and we offer extremely competitive employment packages.

Our team is composed of world-class technologists. Our materials scientists synthesize new polymer materials to technical specifications driven by photonic device engineers who are creating a polymer PIC platform for the datacenter and high performance computing markets in fiber communications.

We are also implementing our technology into non-communication markets.

Our current job openings are listed below, but if you feel that you are truly world-class, you have the right experience base, and you believe you can add value to our technology platform (as seen from the photonics product roadmap webpage)

..then please feel free to submit your resume to:

resumes@lightwavelogic.com.

If you decide to submit your resume, please also write a short (less than 1 page) cover letter with a couple of succinct reasons why you should be considered to join our world-class team.

Our entrance hurdle is high, but not impossible should you have the experience and skill base to assist us in becoming the leading polymer photonic PIC technology player in the world.
