Ontario Sports Hall of Fame Announces 2017 Inducte

TORONTO, May 01, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ontario Sports Hall of Fame has officially opened its doors to welcome six sport legends. Their outstanding achievements in sport in Ontario are well documented and their election to the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame is richly deserved.

2017 Ontario Sports Hall of Fame Inductees:

• Paul Coffey , Hockey
• John Campbell , Harness Racing
• Bob Allan , Lacrosse
• Marnie McBean , Rower
• Bob Gainey , Hockey
• John Hiller , Baseball

In addition to the Class of 2017 inductees, the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame will be recognizing four award recipients at its annual Induction & Awards Gala.

2017 Ontario Sports Hall of Fame Award Winners:

• The Brian Williams Media Award – Howard Starkman
• The Sandy Hawley Community Service Award – Trish Stratus
• The Prentice Family Legacy Award – The Queen’s Plate
• The Syl Apps Ontario Athlete of the Year Award - Penny Oleksiak

The Class of 2017 will be honoured at the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame 2017 Induction Ceremony & Awards Gala in Toronto at The Westin Harbour Castle (Metropolitan Ballroom) on October 2, 2017.
