That doesn't apply to the uber-optimistic--it doesn't matter to them whether or not anything works. Only their opinion that PTOI has a revolutionary technology matters...and their faith grows stronger with every passing year with nothing to support that growth in faith...except maybe occasional websites issuing PTOI four stars or other tidbits they can sweep together using confirmation bias.
The longs know that PTOI can heat up plastic better than anyone can because founder, Mr. Bordynuik, told them so over and over and over...before he was caught for accounting fraud and conspiring with an auditor to get those fraudulent statements filed with the SEC. It simply doesn't seem to occur to the remaining longs that someone who is willing to fraudulently cook the books...might also be capable of swindling investors by saying he found a revolutionary secret catalyst which allowed him to make a crude oil equivalent for under $10/bbl...and then later drop that catalyst story and say he actually developed a better heater to allow him to do the same thing.
Why investors don't demand a shred of evidence from PTOI that the company's version of pyrolysis is useful after all the copany shenanigans is a mystery to me. The uber-longs will point to the NYDEC permit from 2010...where the NYDEC examined the smokestack emissions and issued an air permit...and say that validates the process. If they really thought about it, they would realize it doesn't. I don't know if it's longs being disingenuous or what...but I think many simply tricked themselves into holding the bag.
