O'Reilly: Breaking Down the 'Classic Left-Right Brawl' Over ObamaCare
In his Talking Points Memo tonight, Bill O'Reilly broke down the ObamaCare debate and what both Democrats and Republicans are fighting for in the health care battle.
He said that President Obama and the Democrats want to provide health care to Americans who can't or won't pay for it, while the Republican Party and President Trump do not want to do that.
"It is a classic left-right brawl," O'Reilly said.
He said that the essence of ObamaCare is that all Americans are forced to buy health insurance so that the "have nots" can be covered.
He pointed out that 81 percent of Americans who signed up for ObamaCare received government assistance last year, which added up to more than $100 billion.
"Enter President Trump, who says that ObamaCare costs are way too high, and the program is a disaster in every way," O'Reilly said.
He said that the Republicans' national health care plan - which they are putting forth in phases - will not have a mandate for Americans to buy health insurance.
"If you cannot afford the insurance premiums, the Republicans want the states to handle it, through medicaid," O'Reilly explained. "President Trump and his acolytes essentially want out of the healthcare business and will send federal money to the individual states, so they can handle it."
He said that liberals, on the other hand, want the federal government to dictate how much health insurance costs and who gets it free or subsidized.
"Summing up: Liberals want a big entitlement culture, some uber-conservatives want few if any entitlements, more moderate Republicans want the states to handle health care entitlements with limits."
