PHOTO RELEASE--Leadership Team Announced for Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Technical Solutions Division

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., March 08, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE: HII ) new operating division, Technical Solutions, has announced its leadership team. Technical Solutions was formed in December 2016 after HII acquired Camber Corp. and consolidated it with HII’s services subsidiaries, including AMSEC, Continental Maritime of San Diego, Newport News Industrial, SN3, Undersea Solutions Group and UniversalPegasus International.

“This is a very exciting time for Technical Solutions,” said Andy Green, executive vice president of HII and president of Technical Solutions. “We have a very strong team in place, and I look forward to working with them to continue our strong performance on existing contracts and to pursue new business opportunities to grow the division.”

The new Technical Solutions leadership team includes:

Brad Mason, President, Fleet Support Group

Mason previously served as president of HII’s AMSEC subsidiary, where he was responsible for all aspects of AMSEC’s daily operations. Mason joined AMSEC in 1998 and held positions of increasing responsibility on both the East and West coasts. Most recently, he was director of operations for AMSEC’s Maintenance, Modernization and Technical Services (MMTS) operation, which specialized in engineering and technical support services for the U.S. Navy.

Mason retired as a captain from the U.S. Navy after a 23-year career. He served as business officer for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard; officer-in-charge of Planning and Engineering for Repairs and Alterations of Carriers (PERA CV); chief engineer of USS George Washington (CVN 73); project superintendent at Norfolk Naval Shipyard; commander, Naval Forces Atlantic staff; and chief engineer of USS Turner Joy (DD 951).

Joe Reale, President, Integrated Mission Solutions Group

Reale previously served as senior vice president at Camber Corp., a government services provider acquired by HII in 2016. He joined Camber in 2012 with more than 20 years of government services experience focused on new business growth, shared services delivery and strategy.

He previously served as vice president for the Defense Solutions Group at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). He has a broad range of experience and capability covering M&A integration, change management and margin improvement. Prior to working in the defense services market, Reale was a small business entrepreneur, starting several successful businesses.

Michael Lempke, President, Nuclear & Environmental Group

Lempke previously served as vice president of energy programs at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division, where he was responsible for overseeing Department of Energy programs, as well as commercial nuclear and industrial products businesses and formulating strategy to yield new energy and inorganic growth markets.

Before joining Newport News in June 2016, Lempke was vice president of Integrated Strategic Decision Support at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. and held positions of increasing responsibility within the DOE. In 2012, he was named associate principal deputy administrator for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the associate administrator for infrastructure and operations. Lempke had a long and successful career at Naval Reactors, where he held senior leadership positions, including manager of the Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office, and director of Acquisitions at Naval Reactors Headquarters.

Tom Davison, President, Oil & Gas Group

Davison served as president of HII’s UniversalPegasus International subsidiary and has more than 38 years of pipeline and upstream oil and gas experience. Domestic projects include major cross-country transmission pipelines and facilities as well as major crude oil developments, gas production facilities and CO2-enhanced oil recovery projects.

Davison’s international experience includes projects in South America, Africa, India and the Middle East.

Billy Jahn, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Business Management

Jahn joined AMSEC in 2002 and has served as chief financial officer and director of business management since 2008. He has worked in positions of increasing responsibility in financial and accounting management, financial planning, capital budgeting, and governmental accounting functions. Previous assignments with AMSEC included controller and director of information technology.

Jahn has more than 32 years of experience in finance, accounting, contracts, human resources and information technology. Before joining AMSEC, he served as vice president for finance and accounting for the communications engineering group at Titan Systems and as vice president for finance and administration for Advanced Communication Systems .

Kelly Carlan, Vice President, Human Resources

Carlan joined AMSEC in 1987 and served in various senior management roles within the human resources department until being named the director of HR in 2007. In her current role, Carlan has overall leadership responsibility for overseeing the functional areas of benefits, compensation, employee relations, talent acquisition, ethics and business conduct, as well as all laws, compliance and regulatory requirements that govern each area.

Carlan has 30 years of experience in human resource management in the defense contracting arena and has led several acquisitions, divestitures and mergers, including the HR component of the HII acquisition of Camber Corp.

Nick Thomas, Vice President, Integration Management Office and Business Operations

Thomas is responsible for the integration of HII’s services businesses. He is also responsible for business operations, including IT, contracts, procurement, estimating, pricing, compliance, quality, facilities and security.

Thomas has been with the company for 20 years, most recently serving as corporate director of strategy and development. He has been responsible for leading many of HII’s corporate development activities, which included exploring strategic alternatives for the Avondale shipyard, business development, mergers and acquisitions, integration of acquired companies, and developing HII’s strategic plan. He has held a number of senior leadership positions in program management, business management and supply chain management at HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division.

Christian Ortego, Chief Counsel

Ortego joined HII in 2013 and has served as counsel to Newport News Shipbuilding in various capacities. In his current role, he provides legal advice and counsel to senior management and across all Technical Solutions business units. Prior to joining HII, Ortego worked in private practice and at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He is an active member of the Commonwealth of Virginia and State of Colorado Bars and the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Ortego is currently a captain (select) in the U.S. Navy Reserve and has served in a variety of command and non-command positions on active duty and in the reserves, including onboard USS Gettysburg (CG 64) and USS Doyle (FFG 39) and a 2011 mobilization to Baghdad, Iraq.
