President Obama Agreed To Ban Refugees In 2011
Post# of 65629
With the shooting that occurred in Orlando this past Sunday, and the discussion of placing a temporary ban on Muslims resurfacing, I thought it would be fitting to remind (or inform) everyone that this would not be the first time something like this occurred. And no, I’m not discussing when former President Carter placed a ban on Iranians.
An investigative report from 2013 published by ABC News found that the Obama-Clinton State Department took a six-month hiatus from processing Iraqi refugee requests in 2011, a move not widely publicized by the media at the time.
Yeah, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama were okay with a temporary ban on Muslims. That actually happened.
That doesn’t seem to match up with the rhetoric, especially President Obama’s, on not taking in refugees and temporarily banning Muslims, now does it?
The State Department, which Clinton led at that time, was directly in charge of refugee requests when the Iraq ban was imposed. The Obama Administration took this action after it was discovered two Iraqi men, Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohammed Shareef Hammadi, who had claimed persecution, revealed to undercover officials their plans to use “a bomb to assassinate an Army captain they'd known in Bayji, who was now back home – and to possibly attack other homeland targets.
Both Alwan and Hammadi were let into the United States as war refugees and had settled into Bowling Green, Kentucky. The FBI discovered them in 2009 after matching their fingerprints from explosive devices (IED’s) that were used in Iraq against American soldiers.
Unfortunately, two soldiers had to unnecesarily die overseas in Iraq for Obama to agree to a temporary ban. But frequent bombings, repeated mass shootings, and the death of countless innocent people at the hands of ISIS and ISIS supporters isn’t enough?

WATCH: No protests when Obama ‘put a pause’ on refugees
Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberley Strassel told NBC on Sunday that Trump’s refugee ban is “not unprecedented, by the way. I mean, Barack Obama put a pause for six months on refugees coming from Iraq back in 2011. I don’t remember protesters and I don’t remember lawsuits.”
