I understand that there are obviously other scientists, but the role of an R&D director isn't to do lab work but is to plan and chart a course of experiments to achieve a development product goal that is ready for scaleup and manufacturing. Ruberu has a very impressive background and was likely doing a lot of great labwork in implementing the directions she received. Having been there longer, one might expect more results if someone of her caliber were given the right plan and direction from the beginning.
