just watching for a EMA golden cross is not always enough. there are times when it occurs but then the price plummets. you need more than just one indicator in order to receive confirmation for putting in a Buy Order.

Notice the highest percentage in the chart is 16.88%. This is where we get the EMA lines of 13 and 48.5. While others work, these two are the strongest.

Do as much research as you can on investing. Most online investors are not investors. They throw money around and hope their investment makes them rich. Once it does not, they blame everyone else for their misfortunes.
As for when to sell..
its impossible to sell on the highest price. but we can make educated guesses as to when the 'best' time is to sell. I cant say, "you know when to sell when 'X' happens", because every situation is different.
I dont use the EMAs to know when to sell. i use it to know when to buy. if you were to use the EMAs for selling (WHICH IS NOT THE BEST THING TO DO), you would sell when the blue line is just about to cross under the red line.
