Cannabis Science Announces Pharmaceutical Development of Pain Patch For Patients with Diabetic Nerve Pain and Fibromyalgia
IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/02/16 -- Cannabis Science, Inc. (OTC PINK: CBIS), a U.S. company specializing in the development of cannabis-based medicines, is pleased to announce the pharmaceutical development of two new medications for pain relief for self-medicating patients with Diabetic Neuropathy Nerve pain and Fibromyalgia. These new pharmaceutical medications will be in the form of a transdermal patch that is a medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a specific dose of medication through the skin and into the bloodstream. Often, this promotes healing to an injured area of the body. An advantage of a transdermal drug delivery route over other types of medication delivery such as oral, topical, intravenous, intramuscular, etc. is that the patch provides a controlled release of the medication into the patient, usually through either a porous membrane covering a reservoir of medication or through body heat melting thin layers of medication embedded in the adhesive which will be containing high potency cannabinoid (CBD) extract that slowly enters into the bloodstream and then penetrates the central nervous system of the patient delivering the pain relief sought.

Inflammatory pain has been treated effectively with CBD as well and some studies have shown that CBD may be more effective at treating inflammatory pain than traditional medication.
