Happens. That is why they call it practicing medicine.
I have nerve damage from a therapist adjusting my neck. Without doing the proper tests 1st. Less than a 50/50 chance surgery can make it better. So I live with permanently numb hands among other things. Tore everything from the neck down on my left side. From catching a 17 year old drunk patient from hitting the floor 20 plus years ago. I'd still be making 65K a year if I could get that moment in life back.
So now I manage my pain and activity, to get 4-5 good hours out of a day. Cheapest and most effective treatment for me is massage therapy, acupuncture and MMJ. None of which medicare or VA will pay for. So I live on the pharmaceutical lobbies medication, one of which the VA made a control substance and took away because of the veteran suicide rate.
Sad thing is, now I am looked down on as just another person collecting entitlements and a weight on the system after working 35 straight years and serving my country.
So easy for establishment to throw people away.
