Did everyone catch the term 'Treble Damages' in the court documents against Centrify?
In case you don't know, treble damages is a legal term which basically allows the court to TRIPLE the amount of compensation in damages awarded to SFOR.
In other words, SFOR is asking the court for treble damages. To put it more simply, if the court approves this and SFOR is awarded $100 million dollars, by applying treble damages, SFOR would receive $300 million.
This isn't to say the court would approve this, but the simple fact that SFOR is going after these companies so aggressively shows us that they know how much their patents are worth.
The best part about SFOR seeking treble damages is that many courts will only approve it if there is evidence of WILLFUL infringement. And as we all know, these three companies WILLFULLY infringed on SFOR's patents.
