DV303, I am not a lawyer or an expert on the 1s

I am not a lawyer or an expert on the 1st Amendment but from what I have read, defamation can be in the form of either liable or slander. Slander refers to spoken false statements made about someone to a third party whereas liable refers to false printed statements about someone to a third party.
In my opinion the 1st Amendment does not give anyone the right to defame another person. In this instance, we are talking about a possible liable case against a person who publicly posted the statement "Coates is a robber dude, IMO a pure bred stinky pink scoundrel lol!"... I-Hub post # 16609.
If that statement was false, did it sound defamatory to you? I have read that truth is an absolute defense to libel and slander. So, for the plaintiff to be successful in a law suit, he would have to prove that he had suffered damage as a result of false statements that had been written or said to a third party by the defendant.
Just my opinion.
