Global and Chinese FPCB Industry Report 2016
M2 - Tue Jan 19, 9:56AM CST
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/786ft8/global_and) has announced the addition of the "Global and Chinese FPCB Industry Report, 2015" report to their offering. Global FPCB market size was up to USD12.952 billion in 2014 (up 14.4% from a year ago), grew by 3.4% YoY to about USD13.386 billion in 2015, and is expected to arrive at USD13.68 billion in 2016 at a slower annual growth rate of 2.2%, largely due to: Depressed downstream markets: mobile phone market took a downturn with shipment growth of smartphone below 5%; shipments of tablet PC contracted significantly; shipments of laptop computer remained flat; shipments of HDD dropped markedly; A sharp depreciation of the Japanese yen; Decline in prices of upstream raw materials caused by deflation. There is still growth space for FPCB. First, electronics now pursue for ultra-thinness, and FPCB is the best solution, as it is only 1/10 of the thickness of RPCB and makes 3D wiring a reality. Line width will be smaller than 40nm, so the unit price of FPCB is expected to rise. Second, the surface of more and more FPCB is mounted with SMD devices, which is also conducive to a rise in the unit price of FPCB. FPCB makes up about 10% of automotive PCB market in 2015, about USD528 million, and is expected to reach 16% in 2019 or around USD1.123 billion. Automotive switches (wiper, lighting, turn signal, cruise control) and information center display, head up display, and instrument cluster all need FPCB. Moreover, as the automotive display becomes increasingly larger, the demand for FPCB will swell up. Key Topics Covered: 1 Overview of FPCB 2 FPCB Market 3 FPCB Industry 4 FPCB Companies 5. Global and China FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board) Industry Report, 2014-2015
M2 - Mon Mar 23, 10:56AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/wkplms/global_and_china) has announced the addition of the "Global and China FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board) Industry Report, 2014-2015 " report to their offering. 2014 was a bumper year for most FPCB companies, and the output value of the entire PCB industry reached USD12.5 billion, rising by 10.5% from the previous year. In 2015, the prices of bulk commodities (particularly the copper price) plummet, which will greatly reduce the raw material costs of PCB companies and help raise their profitability. Larger screen size of mobile phone requires larger FPCB. The FPCB market is expected to grow 8.6% in 2015 as the smartphone market can not continue its rapid growth and the tablet PC is in recession. In 2014, the euro, the NTD and the yen significantly devalued, while the South Korean won appreciated, which not only hit a serious blow to the competitiveness of South Korean FPCB enterprises, but minified the profit of South Korean PCB enterprises. The revenue and profit margin of all South Korean PCB companies declined, for example, Flexcom's revenue slumped by more than 50%, the giant Interflex's revenue dropped 33% and its operating margin turned to be the negative 14.2%, which showed the power of the currency war. Benefiting from the currency depreciation, Taiwanese and European companies witnessed soaring profit margins. More than half of Japanese companies did not benefit from the depreciation of the yen because they set up production bases overseas, but still better than South Korean companies. In the downstream market, the biggest change in 2014 lied in: HDD saw the first growth after three consecutive years of decline. The global HDD shipment amounted to 564 million units, an increase of 2.4% from 2013. Previously, insiders were optimistic about the prospect of SSD instead of HDD; but actually, the SSD price remained high, the tablet PC market decayed, while the laptop computer market recovered to growth after three consecutive years of downturn. At the same time, the development of SSD did not restrict HDD; the new network economy and the big data era stimulated the demand for servers and HDD. HDD will still be the mainstream in the next three to five years, and the HDD shipment is expected to reach 621 million units in 2019. Japanese companies focusing on HDD-use FPCB performed exceedingly well in 2014, for example, the leader NOK (Mektron) achieved the revenue growth rate of 28% and the operating margin of 8.7% (rising from the negative 10.6%), Nitto's revenue surged by 31%. The competitiveness of South Korean and American companies weakened significantly. The strong USD made MFLEX's revenue fall dramatically. The depreciation of NTD facilitated Taiwanese companies to grow by leaps and bounds; meanwhile, Apple greatly reduced orders from South Korean companies, while placed more orders with Japanese and Taiwanese companies in accordance with the principle of the nearest supply. The revenue of ZDT under Foxconn soared 60% in 2014. Key Topics Covered: 1 Overview of FPCB 2 FPCB Market 3 FPCB Industry 4 FPCB Companies 5. Global and Chinese FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board) Industry Report, 2014
M2 - Mon Nov 24, 4:01AM CST
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/4wn44k/global_and) has announced the addition of the "Global and Chinese FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board) Industry Report, 2014" report to their offering. In 2013, FPCB industry enjoyed a high-speed growth with the market size approximating USD12.03 billion, up 16.2% from the level in 2012. The South Korean vendors developed rapidly and were excessively upbeat about the industry's outlook, aggressively expanding capacity starting from the very beginning of 2012. As a result, most of new capacity was available in Q2 2013. However, the FPCB companies in South Korea without diversified customers, were heavily dependent on the key accounts such as Samsung and LG, thus making them less competitive during negotiations. Therefore, these vendors cut the prices steeply in Q4 2013, sending them into price war. In 2014, price decline continued to deteriorate, which led to a sharp fall in revenue of South Korean vendors. The implications of high-speed capacity expansion are high fixed costs, which would thus result in a plunge in profit margin. It is projected that the revenue of INTERFLEX, a leading South Korean FPCB company, would tumble by 50%, and its operating margin would record a 27% loss in 2014 in contrast to no-profit-no-loss in 2013. Additionally, affected by the order shift of Apple, the company has hardly received any orders from Apple in 2014.
