If you short the shock you own...you still own it . The catch is covering at a lower price...without a margin call.
You're just protecting your money "Capital" Right ? or is the function more nefarious
By doing so you control the economy...Crush the market enough Uncle Sam will come running with free money.
Free because it goes on the US tax payer.
In the panic like 2008-2010...Congress came running in Fear.
Sooner or later there isn't anyone left to crush...or you play it just enough to keep the yoyo going.
