Wow cash, just f*ckin' wow! If the market were plummeting, would that also be because of thoughts of a Trump win, or does that become Hillary's fault...early?
First of all, the majority 'opinion'....AKA 'thoughts'..... are decidedly NOT that Trump will win. Exactly NO poll show that people think that.
Market will track or be a leading indicator for the underlying U.S. economy and world economy.
Market will look at proposed policies and their likelihood of implementation, just as the market always has.
Now, if a tax hike on the top 1% meant money for infrastructure spending, and budget deficit reduction, and a lift in the cap for SS contributions meant the life would be extended for those benefits, and if a 'tax holiday' brought some corp, cash home, then kiss goodbye your market crash and bailout.
