I think batteries for powering automobiles is economizing regardless of the cost. Even if super batteries were available, they would be super expensive. They also need to be able to take a safe charge in under 10 minutes. Impossible. Solid state electric energy storage is impossible due to physical size limitations, leakage, and heat issues. Also they do not generate power, they consume it. The power still must be generated at the power plant. We are simply relocating the pollution of generating the energy to a distant location. Without government subsidies green energy dies. This is what brought me to this sight. A breakthrough in pollution control for ICE's solves many problems and sets this nation on the road to energy independence. We have natural gas out the yang yang (sorry, couldn't resist) and dirty oil to waste. If we can find ways to burn it without killing ourselves we are good for another 200 years and OPEC can drown in their own oil.
