Crowds Line Up to Hug Dallas Police Officers
Crowds today lined up in downtown Dallas to show their appreciation for the city's men and women in blue, after last night's deadly ambush on officers at an anti-police brutality protest march.
Following a citywide interfaith prayer service in Thanks-Giving Square Park, folks thanked officers, and soon everyone began hugging
“It’s overwhelming,” Senior Cpl. Monica Cordova told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “We were overwhelmed with grief. Now we’re overwhelmed with gratitude.”
Earlier, the crowd gave Police Chief David Brown a long round of applause and a hearty "Thank you."
Five police officers were killed seven more wounded in the deadliest attack on U.S. law enforcement since 9/11.
The sniper who opened fire on the officers was identified as 25-year-old U.S. Army veteran Micah Xavier Johnson.
Authorities reportedly said Johnson was angry about recent shootings by police and “wanted to kill white people.”
