Dozens Arrested After Protests Over Police Shootings Turn Violent

Despite the tragic shooting in Dallas on Thursday that left five police officers dead, protests over police violence against African-Americans have continued nationwide.

Dozens of protesters were arrested overnight in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as tensions flared in the wake of two fatal officer-involved shootings in the cities.

In St. Paul, where a black man was shot and killed Wednesday by an officer during a traffic stop, scuffles broke out between protesters and police officers.

Garrett Tenney reported on "Fox and Friends Weekend" that demonstrators blocked I-94 and threw bottles, bricks and fireworks at police, injuring at least five officers.

Police used smoke bombs and moved in with riot gear to clear the crowd.

In Baton Rouge, police seized several guns and arrested at least 30 protesters who were demonstrating against the shooting death of a black man by an officer on Tuesday.

Tenney reported that prominent Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson was among those arrested in Baton Rouge.

There were also demonstrations in California, Colorado, Florida, New York and several other states, although they remained mostly peaceful.
