Jerry never said beet sugar was healthier than pure cane sugar, only that it was a healthier alternative to the high fructose sweeteners most of the sodas and other junk foods contain. The beet sugar is still sucrose, but is a far healthier choice than high fructose sweeteners because the liver can't process them and converts them to fats like triglycerides. When you incorporate these fats into our bodies cell membranes, triglycerides cause these cells to be insulin resistant. This is the reason that high fructose corn syrup leads to diabetes.
