Must have been in the 70's...correct? My father got screwed over when he was hiring one time(almost). He was forced to hire the less qualified individual due to gender. He wanted to hire an African American.... he loved the cat....and told me he was way above the other two(man/women). Good ideas are misplaced much of the time. It was a civil engineering position for a large Railroad Company. As it turned out...the one that was hired didn't cut it...and left(not fired though). He was fortunate to hire the individual he wanted after all. Luckily it was a short period of about 4-6 Months(could have lost him)...because getting good talent is hard. When my father retired, the gentleman...and many others wrote a very nice letter(plural). My father was the type to stick his neck out for others. Didn't always work...but all remembered.
