It turns out the claim that Hillary Clinton tried to “wipe” her email server before turning it over to the feds for inspection has apparently been a false accusation all along.
The tech firm responsible for overseeing the server has stated today that there was “no knowledge of the server being wiped” which further pokes holes in the claim that she somehow attempted to withhold or destroy evidence.
It also explains why she made a joke out of it when she was asked last month if she had “wiped” the server.
Platte River Networks told the Washington Post today that to its knowledge the email server in question had never been wiped.
Clinton has stated that some emails were deleted, but all along it seemed clear she was simply referring to the fact that she had individually deleted some emails during the course of normal use of email, as all users do.
Such emails are moved to the trash but are still intact. “Wiping” a server or computer would mean intentionally trying to destroy all of the data on it.
When Hillary Clinton was asked whether she had wiped her email server she said “What, like with a cloth or something?” The insinuation was that she did not know what that term meant. And based on the evidence it now looks like she indeed never ordered anyone to “wipe” her server and simply didn’t know what the term meant when she was asked about it.
This comes even as the Department of Justice said this week that Clinton was legally entitled to delete any and all emails that she wanted to, making the entire issue moot anyway. But the fact that she never had her email server wiped, as claimed by her adversaries, points even more strongly to transparency and a lack of wrongdoing on her part.
