I don't see this week as a hail mary attempt. GC meet with Andreea Porcelli in November. I would say he is leaving no rock unturned in need of moving the pipeline ahead, partnering if possible, and spinning off the dx.
GC's blog stated "We remain on track to transact on the diagnostics division in the fourth quarter and will provide updates on this as progress is made. The Company is looking forward to the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference the week of January 11, 2016 as a key time to potentially make public announcements of definitive agreements."
At this time, I do not believe there has been a definitive enough agreement on the dx to make any "potential" public announcement during the week of JPM January 11 or the week prior as some investors are hoping for. Not to say there is no agreement, just saying I've tempered my expectations this week and next week.
For the record, I have not been able to average down in many months as I'm as upside down as many of you, but hope to do so now.
