Was there an expectation of news coming from the m

Was there an expectation of news coming from the meeting in China? It's the first day of a multiple day event and possibly the first time meeting face-to-face. I don't think they are going to sit down at a table and hammer out the details on something that quickly. Maybe I missed something, but I wasn't really expecting substantial news about China today or even tomorrow.
