Mammoth Mountain Teams Up with Stand Up To Cancer to Raise Funds for Cancer Research

Mammoth Lakes, Calif., Nov. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It looks like a beanie, it feels like a beanie, it certainly keeps your head warm like a beanie, but the #MammothBeanie is much more than just a winter hat. Thanks to a collaboration between Mammoth Mountain and Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) , the 2015-16 #MammothBeanie will raise funds to support SU2C's innovative cancer research programs, all while perched comfortably on the top of heads in California and beyond.

How? Images and video shared to social media through April 30, 2016 with the tag #MammothBeanie will trigger a $1 donation to Stand Up To Cancer and beanies purchased at any Mammoth Resorts retail shop trigger another $1 donation, up to $20,000.  So snap that selfie, put a beanie on your dog or cat, wear it to your holiday sweater party, and know that you're helping support an important cause, and looking good while you do it.

"Not only is this beanie a stylish and warm way to glide down the slopes, but it's also a great way to engage people through social media to raise awareness and funds to support an important cause. We are grateful to Mammoth Mountain and excited for this unique collaboration!" said Rusty Robertson, SU2C Co-Founder.

"Since its inception last year the #MammothBeanie has taken on a life of its own and we wanted that to mean something," said Erik Forsell , Mammoth Resorts' Chief Marketing Officer. "The collaboration with Stand Up to Cancer allows us to give something back and support an organization that's doing some really innovative work on a cause that touches us all."

Order your #MammothBeanie from the Mammoth Mountain online store .

About Stand Up To Cancer

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by film and media leaders who utilize the industry's resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, and to increase awareness about progress being made in the fight against the disease. As SU2C's scientific partner, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and a Scientific Advisory Committee led by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., conduct rigorous, competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and provide expert review of research progress.
