We all know this issue is common to all 747-200's. Pretty tough to ground planes that are already in operation.
But perhaps the FAA's thought process here is, "we know those planes have slide issues but we're not going to stop them from flying.... And we know this one has slide issues so we're not going to send another bird in the sky with a safety hazard if we can avoid it". Let alone go on proving flights with our own FAA personnel knowing it has a slide issue.
To me, this is worst case. But just trying to uncover every potential reasoning for the continued delay. Not thinking glass half empty.... Just want to make sure none of us are surprised by any potential outcome here. Thoughts on this as a possibility?
