I agree, but this is a public safety issue, so the black and white matters a bit more. In that case, the rules are there as a safety measure and a CYA. Can you imagine if the FAA turned a blind eye to the slide issue? That's the one thing that CAN'T happen. That's probably why the FAA has to really modify their policy to pass Baltia and to address the issue as a whole. We didn't get a fail because the FAA knows the reasons for not passing yet are not the fault of Baltia, and indirectly the fault of the FAA. So they have to figure out this safety issue first before passing Baltia. I really don't think the AC is the end of it. They need to revise CFR and potentially issue an AD.
Baltia's being penalized for the mistakes of the FAA. Let's just hope they somehow try to rectify some of the damage they've already caused to Baltia.
