There are various possible categories of disgruntled people due to their own foolishness - I remember all the posts at the time:
The "gifted" Preferred C Shares were supposed to reward long-term shareholders who had stuck with the PVEC, and VDSC before it, through all the damaging activities that went on. Some flippers tried to get in at the last minute for the original record date in March 2014 just to get the Preferred Shares and:
Forgot that they had to buy at least 3 business days before otherwise they might not show up settled in time on the NOBO list - they should have checked with their broker.
The record date had to be changed to April 2014 for reasons beyond the company's control.
Some of the flippers sold immediately after the cancelled record date and didn't realize until later that the date had changed because they weren't paying attention to announcements, and didn't get back in to be eligible on the record date..
The company clearly announced on many occasions that those holding on the record date would be identified from the NOBO list - not from brokers. People not on the NOBO list were told they had to submit proof they were shareholders on the record date - some probably didn't.
