They would have to admit they were willing victims of a fairly obvious scam. Some people are simply incapable of being honest with themselves about such things. It's almost like a psychological disease.

It's simply easier for them to make up an imaginary universe in which evil manipulators are responsible for their poor investment decisions. If only those invisible Dark Forces didn't target their penny stock by saying mean things about it on the internet, they would have proven themselves to the world as savvy investors.
