LONDON--The U.K. communications regulator said Tuesday that the fee a network operator charges when a customer receives a call from someone using a different network is set to fall further.
Ofcom said it is implementing a new charge control, applying to all mobile operators, that will cut termination rates further in real terms, from 0.826 pence now to 0.475 pence in April 2017.
Following previous intervention by Ofcom, mobile termination rates have fallen significantly in recent years, it said.
Ofcom said is adopting a transition period, between now and May 1, for the new mobile termination rates to take effect, it said.
