Also, "flippers" aren't the ones hurting the stock. So they buy the bid and sell the ask. What is wrong with that? Let's talk about a 5,000 share order that was sitting at .10 that 30m shares couldn't penetrate. A lot of impatience has to do with shorting the ask and covering the bid manipulation, and walking it right down. If people weren't so impatient and said "Bah, screw it" and dumped their shares at the ridiculous 3% spread bid, the intraday covering would be much less. The less opportunity there is for intraday covering, the less shorting at the ask. No one is holding short positions in this thing overnight. The short interest is practically zero.
